Does it really lay completely flat?
Yes, our True-Flat™️ binding allows every spread to open fully with no gutter or stitching. There is only a thin seam in the center where the paper folds, so you can work seamlessly across both pages.
Will it buckle with watercolor?
The 600gsm, 100% cotton paper is designed to handle heavy watercolor with minimal buckling, even under heavy saturation.
How many pages does it have, and can I really paint on both sides?
40 pages. That is 20 sheets, painted on both sides. Paint does not bleed through, and the finish is the same on both sides, so every sheet gives you two painting surfaces.

If the Via is not for you, you have 30 days from delivery for a 100% refund with a free prepaid U.S. return label. Normal handling or brief testing of the sketchbook is fine.

Everything it is advertised. Sketchbooks are my go to for my art and I have MANY. When I say Luchetti it looked great, but the 8x8 was too big for me, when I saw the 5x5 I knew I had to get both the cold press and hot press. Extremely beautiful sketchbooks, a dream to watercolor in. I am sure I will be purchasing more in the future.

I ordered the smaller books this time and one was a Hot Press book because I have no hot press paper. I haven't used the new ones yet, but the other ones are living up to their claims so far.
Could you please tell me how to pronounce the name Luchetti. I thought the ch was pronounced like the ch in the word cheese, but someone has disputed that stating the ch is pronounced like a K sound. It's making me crazy not to know.

Just received my Via True-Flat sketch book and I love it. It is of the highest quality. I just used it to create a watercolour sketch from a trip to Easter Island. I am very happy with the results and am looking forward to taking it with me on my next excursion to create sketches in the field.

Because of your name I'm making the assumption you are Italian, maybe not. However, the style, quality, and presentation of this sketchbook has the Italian ethic of great design. Firstly, the sketchbook is unmatched on the market with heavy no buckle WC paper with no wrong side, no gutter. Every page is paintable, even the end pieces attached to the cover. It's perfect for plein air. My paintings have much improved with these singular features. The cover is sturdy like a hardcover book and has a nice hand feel. The small version can be easily hand held without the necessity of support. I find the need for a table or easel for the heavier larger book, although I can set it in my lap and paint. Secondly, real thought went into the quality packaging, with a lovely reusable box. This sketchbook transcends all others.... A great gift for yourself or someone else.

This travel size has been perfect for my quick on-location paintings while packing light. I love that the 5.5" opens up to double in width with its true lay-flat spread. High-quality, thick paper. Best sketchbook out there! The via is such a great size if you’re concerned about the original being heavy (although in my opinion the extra weight is worth it because it’s such a pleasure to paint in)
Five stars? In a 5-star rating system, I give them 6. Or more. These are hands down the best made, most beautifully packaged and presented sketchbooks you'll find. Packaging doesn't matter in terms of the functionality of a product, but that said, I have NEVER seen packaging like this. It's absolutely beautiful. Before you even get to the books, opening the packaging elicits a "wow." The 600gm, heavy-weight paper is of the highest quality. The binding is excellent. The books have no gutter and the pages open and lay flat. These sketchbooks have no equal that I'm aware of. I've bought four of them. Will I buy them again? Yes. Absolutely.
